Lorenzo was born June 2, 1968, in Joliet, Illinois to Anna Bell and Lorenzo Wilson, Sr. He suddenly made his transition on April 24, 2025, and went home to be with our Lord, at the age of 56.
Lorenzo was affectionately known as “Maine,” “Poppa,” and “Fupe.” He was baptized at an early age, and he learned to know and love the Lord.
Lorenzo attended Joliet Central High School then proceeded to Joliet Job Corps where he studied automative engineering which led him to a job at Ryder. He also worked at local factories in the Joliet area and later developed a passion for culinary arts while working in the Deli at Walmart.
Lorenzo will be remembered as the embodiment of humor, warmth, and a kind heart. He could turn any situation into a joking moment. Those that knew him loved him. He enjoyed spending quality time with his children, his extended family and friends, dancing, watching movies, and sports. There was rarely a time you would see him without a smile on his face. When entering family gatherings, you would hear his laughter followed by his signature phrase, “OK, Mug!!!” which immediately made you smile.
Lorenzo was the first grandson and nephew to eleven and aunts and uncles. He shared a close relationship with each of them. He was the apple of his grandfather’s eyes. He was inseparable with his uncle David Bradley who was close to him in age. He was the major talent in the family talent shows and would jokingly mock others; it was all in good spirit. Lorenzo was the prankster of the family and played many tricks on his siblings and younger cousins…. His laugh was contagious, and his facial expressions were hilarious. Lorenzo had a unique way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Especially if you just cooked one of his favorite meals (smile).
Lorenzo is preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Wilson Sr.; maternal grandparents, Arcola and Booker T. Bradley Sr. Also, his two maternal uncles, Gregory Bradley and Donnell Bradley, a loving aunt, Lucille Bradley, and two cousins Jericko Parker and Javonte’ Johnson Jr.
Lorenzo leaves to mourn his passing: his mother, Anna Bell Wilson; son, Lorenzo Wilson III, daughter, Loren Burns all of Joliet, IL; two sisters, Arshawna Wilson of Fredericksburg, VA, and Loretta Wilson of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Anthony (Tanisha) Wilson of Plainfield, IL, and Carl Wilson of Joliet, IL, a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, special niece, Kyra Burton, nephews, cousins, and special cousin, Paula Bradley-Keesee.
