Lynnette Autman, age 67, passed away peacefully at home in Joliet, Illinois, on December 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Lynnette was born on December 10, 1957, in Joliet, Illinois, to Fredrick and Ada Bates. She graduated from Joliet East High School and went on to build a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication to her family and community.
In 1983, Lynette met the love of her life, Matthew Autman. The two married in Las Vegas in 1987 beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted for 41 years.
Lynnette retired from ComEd as a mechanic in 1995. She later worked as a blackjack dealer at the Empress Casino before pursuing a role at DCFS, where she discovered her passion for working with children. This passion inspired her to open her own daycare, Lynn’s Lil’ Tots, where she nurtured and cared for countless children over the years.
Lynnette will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her devotion to her family, and her talent for sewing. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She was truly a woman who wore many hats and was loved by everyone she came in contact with.
Lynnette is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Ada Bates; her sister, Carolyn Smith; her granddaughter, Seven Barnes; and her niece, MiJoi Evans and step-son, Phillip Autman.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Matthew Autman; six children: Anthony Bates (Marie), Glenda Valentine (Rahsaan), Breanna Autman, Undrea Autman, all of Joliet, IL, Stephanie Bates (Reginald), Breanna, Raven Autman, both of Huntsville, Alabama and Undrea ; her stepchildren, Sharon Autman and Junior Autman, both of Joliet, IL; her sisters: April Bates, Doreen (Bedford) Williams, Jennifer Green and one brother, Patrick Bates; her grandchildren; Jordan, Essence, Chris (Rebecca), Ada, Michael, Demetrius, Everi, Javon, Kavon, Antanasia, Saniyah, Jayden, Jeremiah, Jmahri, and King; her great grandchildren, Deuce, A’shaan, and arriving soon, Amora; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews friends and her loving dog, CoCo.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
