Mardele Immacula Castel was born February 14, 1954 to Rodrigue Castel and Mercie Daniel. She was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Mardele was the fifth child out of nine siblings. Mardele completed all of her academic studies in Port-Au-Prince Haiti until she and her daughter moved to the United States. Mardele valued higher education and continued her studies in Culinary Arts and Childcare Education where later she secured her lifelong career in Child Care. Through her long career, she became a valued member of the Hyde Park community where she was essential to many University of Chicago – affiliated faculty family.
Mardele also known as MADO loved children. Mardele was also known for her kind heart, her feisty yet gentle spirit, her tell you how it is attitude and most importantly her wise words of wisdom. Mardele was also known for her love of gardening and cooking. She also had a deep love for animals. Mardele cared for everyone that was around her.
Mardele is survived by her daughter, Tamara Marie Altagrace Momprevil; her brother, Jocelyn Castel; her sisters, Marie Annette Castel, Marie Ketly Noel, Carline Christophe and Janie Theodore.
Mardele is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Annie Duperval, Josny Castel, Ralph N. Castel, Danielle Mathurin, Claude A. Castel, Jennifer Noel, Karl R. Noel, Evens J. Castel, Circee C. Robert, Lou-Royce Christophe, Strogoff Theodore, Tania Bolte, Jamesy Robert and Taina Bolte. Her great nephews and nieces, David, Melinda, Melissa, Marc, Hilary, Talissa, Davens, Isha, Noah C., Nicholas, Noah R., Eleiynah, Jameal, Maddison, London, Karlicia, Carl, Ann-jossy, Noadiya, Seraya and Leila. Her aunt Marie Bernadette Daniel and her cousin, Mimouse Lefevre. Mardele is additionally survived by lifelong family friend, Hugue Janvier and her many close friends and extended families
