MaryAnn Dase-Bailey Obituary

MaryAnn Dase-Bailey was born on May 23, 1956 in Laurel, Mississippi to George and Naomi Dase.  The eldest child and only daughter, she was a cherished member of the Dase family.

At the age of four, MaryAnn made the heartfelt decision to be baptized alongside her mother at Bethlehem Temple in Lockport, Illinois.  Her strong faith continued to shaper has as her family later joined Christ Temple Church pastored by Elder and later Bishop J.E. Moore.  There MaryAnn served faithfully as church administrator, mistress of ceremonies and choir director. She was also a. faithful member of the usher board and couples ministry.  Known for her joyful presence, she also worked alongside her family in the church kitchen.  In 2017, MaryAnn and her husband, Bill, relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where they became dedicated members of The Worship Center under District Elder David L. Settles.

MaryAnn's education journey began at A.F. Hill Lockport Grade School then continued at Fairmont Grade School and Lockport High School where she graduated in 1974.  She attended BenedictineCollege and later transferred to Saint Louis University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Eduction in 1979.  MaryAnn also pursued a Master's degree in Education from Lewis University.

MaryAnn poured her passion for education into a distinguished 36-year career that touched countless lives.  She taught in multiple schools across Joliet and Lockport, including Fairmont (School District 89), Dirksen Middle School, Joliet Central High School, and ultimately Fairmont, where she retired in 2016.

Known for her compassion, high standards, professionalism, and signature sass, she was adored by colleagues and students alike.  She led with grace and strength, serving as President of the Fairmont Council for The American Federation of Teachers Local 604 and receiving multiple Joliet Chamber of Commerce "Best Teacher" Awards.

In 1982, MaryAnn met Willie "Bill" Bailey on a blind date that blossomed into a lifelong love.  They married on November 23, 1983, and spend 42 wonderful years together.  Their marriage, rooted in faith and love, became a testament to partnership and devotion.  God called MaryAnn home just two days after their anniversary, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her father, George Dase.  She leads to honor her memory her devoted husband, Willie F. Bailey; her sons, Derrick and Devin; her long mother, Naomi Dase; her brothers, Charles and Marcus Dase; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family and friends.

MaryAnn's life was a reflection of her faith, service and deep love for family and community. Her warmth, wisdom and strength will forever be cherished.
