Mattie Lee Hill was born in Laurel, Mississippi on December 8,1938 and she passed away peacefully at her home in Joliet, IL on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Hatten and Cora Dixon; her husband, Charles Hill; her two eldest sons, Charlie Earl and Robert Hill; her siblings, Jack, Mae Willie, Mary, Earl, Marvin and Julius Hatten.

Mattie is survived by her remaining four children, Edward, Kathleen, Maurice Hill and Angela Barefield (Russell), 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 10 siblings, numerous cousins and her lifelong friends and fellow foot soldiers for the Lord, Lucille Kimbrough and Ida Dantzler.

Mattie was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. However, her greatest devotion was to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She grew her faith, was a lifelong member and foot soldier for the Lord at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Joliet, IL under the founding leadership of the late Pastor James McNear and most recent Pastor Clint Wilburn until she literally could no longer walk.

In Mattie’s last days she continued to be brave, hardworking, faithful and committed to her life’s assignments until God called her home.
