Nancy Cartwright Obituary

Nancy Jane Cartwright born June 24, 1968, the first child of Barbara Ammons Cartwright and Bennie Cartwright in Joliet, IL. She made her transition Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Silver Cross Hospital.

At a young age, she began attending All Nations Church of God in Christ, where she became a devoted member and faithfully served throughout her life. She eventually had the honor of serving as the personal nurse to Bishop Robert R. Sanders until his passing. Her love for her church was evident through her many years of dedicated service as president of the Deaconess Board, president of the Pastor's Aide Committee, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Kitchen and Hospitality Committee.

Nancy attended Joliet grade schools and graduated from Joliet West High School in 1986. A tireless and dedicated worker, she often held multiple jobs at once, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to providing for her family and serving others. Throughout her career, she worked for the Will County Assessment Office, Harrah's Casino, and as the head cook at Bernie's Kitchen, earning the respect of those who knew her through her strong work ethic and generous spirit.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Bennie Cartwright, her brother, Bennie Easley, and her grandson, Julius Aaron Rogers, Jr. (Man-Man).

She leaves to cherish her passing: one daughter, Jannice Barefield; three sons, Janarl Cartwright, Joseph (Shante) Robert Barefield, and Jonathan Barefield all from Joliet, IL; seven grandchildren, Syria Hervey, Janarl Cartwright Jr., Jedidiah Cartwright, Jordan Barefield, and Goldie Cartwright all of Joliet, IL and Jonathan Barefield Jr. and Haven Barefield of Monticello, AR; one brother, Jermaine (Ebone) Ammons of Chicago, IL, three sisters, Tonya Cartwright and Twanette (Charles) Jones both of Joliet, IL, and Onreesha Ammons of Chicago, IL; one special sister, Yvette Gates of Joliet, IL, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.
