Nannie Mae Wells was born January 29, 1933, in Springfield Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Wells and to this union nine children were born.
Nannie moved to Joliet, IL in 1953, She was employed at various places and the Ammunition plant until closing and later employed with the Barr Family until retirement as lifelong family member. Nannie has confessed her life to our Lord and Savior as her refuge, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Odell Thompson of Joliet.
Nannie transition this life, October 6, 2021, in Joliet Area Community Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
Nannie was the humblest, warm-hearted person ever. She enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends. Nannie enjoyed cooking and preparing big family cookouts with her children and beloved sisters in-law Nellie Bradley and Martha Miller whom she reunited with.
Nannie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Wells, mother, Margaret Johnson, father, Dave Lockett, two children, Anthony and Patricia Wells and one great grandson, Daniel D. Sanders.
Nannie leaves to cherish seven children’s, Victoria Carter, Robert G. Wells, Geraldine Wells, Pamela Warner, Janice (Ronald) Wilder, Phillip Wells and Daniel (Barbara) Wells all of Joliet. Thirteen grandchildren, Scott Wells, Shawn and Christopher Carter, Kenya and Kimberly Travis, Rhonda, Tameka, Yvonne Wilder, Sharonda (Keon) Wiley, Yolanda (William) Houston, Deontae Robinson, Ronald Jr. (Alexis) Wilder, and Daniel Sanders. twenty-one great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren and one bundle on the way; one sister-in-law, Betty McCullum. She also leaves close relatives Jerry Johnson of Milwaukee, WI, George and Donna Barr of Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
