Napoleon Brown Jr. Obituary

Napoleon "Polie" Brown, Jr., was born February 4, 1946 in Foote, Mississippi to the late Napoleon Brown Sr. and Beatrice Johnson (Monroe).  He suddenly passed away at home,  Monday,  November 1, 2021.

Napoleon attended Lockport Central High School for three years and his last year transferred and graduated from Joliet Central High School.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and served and fought in the Vietnam war until he was honorably discharged in 1969. While serving,  he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Napoleon was a longtime resident of Joliet/ Lockport area. He was employed at Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years and retired from his supervisor position in 2006.

He was an excellent cook, enjoyed bowling, a philosopher, hunter and an avid fisherman. Nonetheless, he enjoyed telling stories of hunting and fishing adventures. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents, uncle, John Monroe, brother, James Brown, nephew, Raymond Brown and two nieces, Andrea Lynn Flowers and Crystal Harden.

Surviving is his beloved friend and confidant of over 20 years, Regina Cephus of Chicago; his daughter, Cicly (Bob) Martin  of Joliet, his granddaughter, Simone Martin of Joliet, IL, his special niece, Janetta (William) Jackson of Houston, TX,  stepchildren, Latoya Hart, Ishon Sims of Joliet, IL, Mettie Sims of Grand Prairie, TX, Latrice Greyer-Jackson (Eric) and Sherita Cephus of Chicago, IL,  special grandchildren, Londriel, Jason, Emaree, Cornaja, Malcom, Naomi and Isabelle; sisters, Ruthie Gavins, Ruby Burns, and Marilyn Johnson all of Wisconsin, Lillie Brown, Connie (Johnathan) Johnson, Jannie (Pastor Victor) Flowers, Annette (Donald) Harden all of Joliet, IL. Gloria Jones of Jackson, MS, brothers, Arthur (Sheila) Monroe of Joliet and James Monroe of Champaign, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
