Nika Sheree Briggs was born August 11, 1976 to the union of Ike Sr. & Bernice Briggs in Chicago, Illinois.
Her Story: Nika was affectionately known to family & friends as NeNe or Boz. She was the youngest of eight children.
Nika accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized at Sheldon Heights Church of Christ under the leadership of Minister Leonardo D. Gilbert.
Nika began her education at Brenan Elementary and became a graduate of Fenger High School.
Nike's first love became all of the young children of the family. She loved to babysit them & spoil them quite often. As time passed, she dedicated more time to caring for her dear parents. Att times she would put their care before her own well-being.
Nika developed a passion for reading the Holy Bible and enjoyed participated and praying for others on the prayer line. In her leisure time, she loved visiting Chicago's lakefront where she would go spend time with family & friends. She loved to unwind with family with a beautiful smile that could brighten anyone's day. Her smile was contagious. She would often check in on her family; sending them bible quotes, or just dropping by to say, "I Love you."
Nika was called home on the morning of August 26, 2023 at 10:21 a.m. at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memory, six siblings; Willie B. (Jeanie), Jammie, Ike Jr. (Nicole), Tonya, Leo, and Fannie; her parents: Ike Sr. and Bernice Braggs; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nike's sister Katina Briggs, grandparents: Henry & Sadie Braggs, Emma Burns & James Allen, all preceded her in death.
After years of fighting a good fight of a long list of illnesses that attempted to break her, Nika still pushed forward while adding glue to her family. She continued to be the caregiver she was naturally meant to be. Nika will forever be in our hearts. Her light can never be extinguished to the people that loved her.
