Patricia Hamilton Millsap (1957–2025)

Patricia Hamilton Millsap, a woman defined by wisdom, grace, and an unwavering commitment to her family and faith, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior peacefully on October 6, 2025. Born on May 10, 1957, in Joliet, IL to John and Vermel Hamilton. Pat accepted Christ at an early and worshiped faithful with her family at St. James Church of God In Christ on Parks Avenue in Joliet, IL under the leadership of Pastor Elder James H. Hamilton Sr. Pat lived a life that beautifully exemplified the virtues celebrated in scripture.

Patricia dedicated her professional life to the United States Postal Service, but her true devotion was to her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her legacy of faithful service and deep spiritual grounding echoes the words of Proverbs, where it is written: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:28). Her home was always a welcoming place, a sanctuary built on kindness, counsel, and unfailing love, demonstrating the principle that “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”(Proverbs 4:18).

Throughout her life, Patricia found constant comfort and strength in her spiritual walk, often turning to Psalms in moments of challenge and joy. She lived with the conviction expressed in Psalm 23, knowing “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6). She encouraged those around her to rejoice in the gift of each day, believing, as Psalm 118 proclaims, “This is the day that the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24).

As she completed her earthly journey, the family takes profound solace in the promise of eternal life. For those who grieve, we find comfort in the vision of Revelation 21:4: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Patricia now rests in that place where all sorrow ceases.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Wince; her daughters, Kelly (Philip) Whitehead of Joliet, IL and Kimberly Hamilton of Mesquite, TX; bonus children, Christopher (Andrea) Millsap, Rachel (Maurice) Robinson; her nine siblings, Ken (Angela)Travis, John (Kathleen) Hamilton, Calvin, Vera Hamilton, Tiffany (Kevin) Morgan, Johnetta (Decosta) Hastings, VeElla Hamilton, Antwan (Kimberly) Hamilton, David Washington; nine grandchildren, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, John and Vermel Hamilton; and siblings Bernard Hamilton, Shawn Hamilton, and Delores Witcher.
