Portia McFall Obituary

Portia Lynn McFall was born on March 18, 1960 in Chicago, IL. She was the sixth child born to the late Frank Sr. and Christine McFall.

Portia attended Mary C. Terrell (ACE Tech) and graduated June 1978 from DuSable High School.

Portia was brought to New Philadelphia Church Baptist, along with her siblings, by her mother Christine McFall in 1969 where she confessed Christ early in life under the leadership of the late Reverend Horace N. Mitchell.

Portia was a loving and kind woman whose spirit was spread to others along with her witty sense of humor and laughter. She had a heart to serve which allowed her to be a blessing to many of her family and friends.

Portia’s career consisted of over 20 years in the legal field. She was employed at Garretson & Santora as a law clerk and continued the rest of her career as an administrative assistant at the law firm of Oltman & Maisel. Her workforce family enjoyed her humor and efficiency as she displayed her skills as a leader and great asset in her field.

Portia was known for her skills in the kitchen. Her specialty consisted of chicken salad, peach cobbler and sweet potato pie. Her creative fashion sense and home décor displayed beauty and her elegant sense of style. She was also very health conscious and enjoyed swapping and exploring healthy food choices with her daughter.

Although Portia’s health became compromised, she never lost her joy and laughter. She displayed strength and perseverance in prayer throughout her journey. Her joyous spirit was infectious as she blessed each person including her medical team through her life’s journey. Dancing, singing, and joking around was her enjoyment. Portia wore many hats: mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and more importantly she was a woman of God.

Portia transitioned from this world on June 1, 2019 and leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, TaShara Cora, “My Brat” as she lovingly called her; son-in-love, Trodiss Cora Sr.; three grandchildren: Tierra, Tasyana, and Trodiss Jr.; her three god-children: Robyn Diamond, and Destiny; her five sisters: Gloria Tucker, LaRita Smith, Annette McFall, Luella Tolbert (Jimmy), and Minister Marshan McFall-Lowe (John); (two sisters preceded her in death, Donna Holmes and Iris McFall-Carpenter); three brothers: Frank McFall Jr. (Bertha), Elder Bruce McFall Sr. (Tamara), Frank Bowden (Lori); and (one brother, Patrick Bowden, who preceded her in death); twenty-three nieces and nephews, and 26 great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a special and devoted friend, Mr. Lester Wallace; and a host of relatives and friends
