Quiwana Darchelle Smith

Quiwana Darchelle Smith, known as Shell or Sunshine, was born October 28, 1975 to Willie Turner and Denise Thompson.  Born and raised in Joliet, Quiwana graduated from Joliet West High School.  Shell was called home September 1, 2021.

Shell started her career early on with the City of Joliet, where she later progressed to the Joliet Police Department to work various positions. 

Shell married her first husband William Bills, in 2000 and to this union, three children were born. She later married the love of her life, James "Darnell" Smith in 2019.. They enjoyed each other for the rest of her life. 

Shell is preceded in death by her mother, Denise Thompson; maternal grandparents, Larry an Maxine Thompson; her paternal grandparents, Eddie and Algie Turner; her uncle and aunt Larry Thompson, Jr. and Charlene Thompson.

Shell will be cherish and truly missed by her loving husband, Darnell (John and Ruby Baker); three children Brianna ( John) Stewart, Jazmyn, and Jared Bills; her grandchildren, Cameron Barber, Princeton and Nowell Stewart; her siblings Falana, Edrice, Julius (Keonna) Turner, Jalissa Gills and Denzil Smith, Tasha, Tena, and Gracie; grandmother, Corrine Thompson, Aunts and Uncle, Diane Harris, Linda and James Thompson, Shell will be missed by her 10 nieces and four nephews, two great-nieces and two great-nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.
