Rhonda Coleman-Harmon Obituary

Rhonda Lynette Coleman-Harmon was born December 9, 1958 in Harvey, Illinois, "Lennie" lived a life rooted in faith, strength and devotion to family.  From an early age, she demonstrated resilience and compassion, qualities that remained evident throughout her life. A  child with polio who beat the odds, a single mother, for a period, to a career as a nursing assistant, to a mental health technician, ultimately to her own transportation business, Rhonda's Gentle Care Transportation.  Before this business, she went to nursing school, sewing classes, and hair school.  The lady was not accepting no for an answer about anything. If you knew her, you knew she was persistent - she would call about 100 times to get through to you, and if you did not answer, you were on the block list.

"Lennie" believed in the institution of marriage and family.  She was blessed to be a bride three times in this life.  She was married to her third husband until his sudden passing in 2016.  Since then, she was widowed ad focused heavily on her relationship with God.

"Lennie" was known for her straightforwardness, humor, kindness, faith, generosity and perseverance. She carried many roles as a Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Auntie and Friend, but above all, she was a faithful servant of God who trusted Him through every season.  She would tell you in a heartbeat that her ministry was to be a Soul Winner - a fisherman of souls, and she demonstrated it by handing out tracts every where that she went.  As a very young girl, she gave her life to the Lord at a revival being conducted by Evangelist E.R. Allen, under the tent! As a babe in Christ she then joined Bethel Gospel Tabernacle of Harvey, IL under the leadership of the late Pastor Harold Arrington, where she served until she followed the voice of the Lord and joined The Holy Ghost Deliverance Center COGIC under the leadership of the great late Eld. LT Hutton.  She was on fire for God, she would lead testimony service without a microphone and Eld. Hutton affectionately called her "Sister Loud Mouth."  Under his ministry her faith grew stronger having witnessed demons being cast out and miracles, signs and wonders being manifested.  Having a strong call to serve, "Lennie" Began attending the New Joy City COGIC in Harvey, IL under the leadership of Supt. Jeffrey L. Ball in 2010.  One of her all time favorite things to do was to watch tele-evangelists, her most current favorite being, Archbishop William Hudson III EVERY Saturday night and would faithfully attend noon-day Bible Study.  She enjoyed hearing the word of God and even participating in Bible Study, Prayer, and attending service when she was in good health.  She had a very strong prayer life and could "get a prayer though."  She loved the saints.

Lennie was ghetto and country and PROUD....From her gold tooth (which she got because she wanted to chew chicken on it), to the hairstyles that had to be ghetto (because that was just her) - to know her was to love her.  She loved Cadillac, and she had one with tint, whitewalls and spokes that would glide.  She has childhood best friends who were close to her like sisters, Valerie and Jeannie.  Lennie made some additional friends who are life family, such as Joyce, Ruby and Cora.

When it came to the grandkids and great grand-kids, she wanted all of them to have the middle name Lynette.  The first two granddaughters have the middle name.

Through both joy and challenge, Lennie leaned on prayer and faith, never losing sight of God's promises.  Her love for family, church, and community was evident in both word and deed. She kept two new dollar bills in her Bible and if you asked her for a dollar she would tell you she did't have it but she had Jesus' $2 and she couldn't give you that.

"Lennie" is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Sloan; sister, Rochelle (Ann) Franklin; mother, Cynthia Foxworth; grandmother, Elizabeth Sapp; auntie, Rose Amour Love; her bonus son, Brian and her first husband and best friend, Oscar O. Harmon Sr.

Lennie is lovingly survived by her sister, Roxane (Neasy) Coleman Brock; her children, Tyrita (Tycie), Tawana (Wana), Teneishae (Nee-Nee), and Oscar Jr. (O.J. aka Bubbles); grandchildren, Chisheeka (Chisel Tooth No Neck), Cierra (Freckles) Asia (Coon Face), Shaquille, Lyneashae, Keon, Brianna, Brittany, Brynia and Bryan Jr.; great grandchildren, DaLante (The Man), Jayden (My Love), Javier, Jaliyah, Mason, Malaysia (Grandma) and Azura (Lil Lennie); bonus children, Jeanette, Charlene and Tremaine, Tiffany, Quanesha (Tabitha).
