On January 22, 1932, Richard Lee Sigman was born to Veva Harman and Ollie Sigman in Charleston, West Virginia. Richard grew up and enlisted in the Army in 1951 at nineteen years old. Richard served our country for three years. He started working at Nestle Beverage Company shortly after arriving home. He lived in Romeoville, Illinois where he met Lu Ann Allen around 1990. They married years later, bought their home, and moved the family to Joliet, Illinois.
Richard loved Lu Ann and was a hard-working man. He developed relationships and friendships in the community and Lu Ann’s family. It was hard to see Richard immediately smile at you when you walked through the door. However, once he got to know you, you saw the humorous and friendly person he truly was in his life. Richard loved hard and made taking care of his family a priority.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: one son: Richard Sigman Jr., and two stepsons, Antonio Allen and Devante Allen; one daughter: Tatiana Sigman (legal guardian) residing in Georgia; three stepdaughters: Latasha Allen residing in Illinois, Shamika Allen residing in Virginia, and Dolores Allen residing in Texas; two children and stepson from a previous marriage; twenty grandchildren with fifteen great-grandchildren. Richard stands with his wife Lu Ann, his mother, Veva Harman, father Ollie Sigman, brother, and his son.
We will miss him dearly, but his presence is with us now and always!
