Robert Lee Morgan Jr. was born November 19, 1948 to Robert Lee Morgan Sr. and Odeliar Morgan in Cleveland, Mississippi. He passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.
He attended East Side High School in Cleveland, Mississippi and graduated. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Joliet, Illinois. He later attended Joliet Junior College and received an Associate’s degree.
He accepted Christ at a young age and continued in his faith and was a member of Christ Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop J.E. Moore.
Robert was employed for 53 years by Caterpillar Tractor Company as an Engineer and was a dedicated employee. He was a hardworking, loving and honorable man. He enjoyed working, traveling, martial arts karate, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was united in marriage to Ernestine Morgan and this union produced one son, Patrick Morgan. Several years later his courtship with Shirley Banks produced his second son, Bobby Morgan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Morgan; son, Patrick Morgan and grandson, Brian D. Byrd, Sr.; sister, Patricia Reese; two brothers, Ronald Morgan and Calvin Morgan.
He is survived by his loving son, Bobby Morgan (Tasha) Holliman-Morgan of Atlanta, GA; siblings; Karen Morgan, Willie Mae Burks (Dan), Linda Stewart and Yolanda McLemore; grandchildren, Brianna Byrd, Rachel McCain, Torrance McCain, Angelique Morgan, Blaique Morgan, Amari Morgan and Isis Morgan; great grandchildren, Brian D. Byrd Jr., Aniya Byrd Morgan, Ayana Morgan Byrd and Giana Morgan Byrd; sister-in-law, Diana Morgan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
