Robert William Vidales, a lifelong resident of Joliet, Illinois passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025 with his family by his side. Robert was born to the late Rose Marie Vidales and Robert William Moore on September 8, 1944.
Robert was baptized at Cherry Hill Church of God in Christ in New Lenox, Illinois. Robert was also a faithful member and usher at God’s Gathering Place under the leadership of Apostle George Kimbrough.
Robert retired as a welder from Caterpillar in 1999 where he worked faithfully for 30 years and after retirement he worked at Wishy Washy Laundromat for several years.
Robert enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing board games and playing his favorite “solitaire”. He also enjoyed fixing lawnmowers. Robert was a member and treasurer of the Fort Erie Lodge (167)
Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and memories. He is survived by his loving dear devoted wife of 54 years, Dorothy Vidales. His devoted sons, Robert Jr. (Tasha) Vidales and Aaron (Amikio) Vidales. He is also survived by two loving twin daughters, Brenda and Glenda of Detroit, MI; two loving sisters, Mary Theresa Vidales of Joliet,IL and Virgie Copeland of Vicksburg, MS and loving sister-in-law, Linda Lewis of Montgomery, AL; 11 grandchildren, Adjshamia, Erin, Aaron Jr, Dorothy Lynn, Robert Jr., Dakota, Araniyah, Addyson, Noah, Jason, Jameah, Lamarr, Xavier, Aaron, Ramirus and Trevaughn. Eight great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving church family. His childhood friends, Sam Stokes and Donald Strong, and his special friends, Jimmy King and Tony Route.
A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Spring Creek Nursing and Rehab for their gentle and compassionate care that was shown to Robert.
