Rodney Walls Obituary

Rodney L. Walls was born on July 4, 1970 in Joliet, IL and passed away here in his hometown on February 24, 2025.

Rodney was the eldest of 6 children born to Shirley Payton (Walls) and was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL although he lived all over the country throughout his life.

Rodney was educated in the Joliet Public School System and graduated from Joliet Central High School.  After high school, Rodney traveled the country, living on both the east coast and west coast of the US, even living in Hawaii at one point.  Rodney was a jack of all trades as he did a little of everything from working for a chemical company to casinos to landscape work.  Rodney was a caring soul; he would help a person out with whatever he had and would try to make something out of nothing.  He was always an adventurous and fun-loving guy.  Rodney was athletic and loved sports- anything from basketball to bowling to golf and was even known to surf when he lived in Hawaii and Florida.  In the 70s and early 80s, you can best believe that when Everyone Was Kung Fu Fighting, so was Rodney!

Rodney is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Hattie Hogan and uncle Marvin Hogan both of Pompano Beach, FL, twin brothers Jimmie and Jaime and one of his favorite cousin/brothers growing up, Freddie DiCarlo Clark of Joliet, IL, great uncle and aunt Monroe and Leoma Jones of Joliet, IL and step grandmother Weltha Walls of Phoenix, AZ.  He is survived by his mother Shirley Payton (Walls), stepfather Kirk Payton of Joliet, IL, maternal grandfather Earnest Ray Walls of Phoenix, AZ, siblings Angela Walls of Delray Beach, FL, Anthony and Candice Payton of Joliet, IL, his children Justin Beck  of Oklahoma City, OK and Autumn Bourque of Peoria, AZ, aunt Alice J. Lee of Boynton Beach, FL,  uncle/cousin Freddie (Betty-deceased) Clark of Joliet, IL, uncles Jerry Hogan and Vincent (Mellenna) Hogan both of Pompano Beach, FL, favorite cousin/brother Corey (Betty) Jones of Delray Beach, FL,  little cousin/brother Marcus (Bianca) Lee of Joliet, IL, along with a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
