Ronald Sims, 85, of Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5. He was born on September 1, 1940, and lived a life defined by faith, devotion to family, and an unwavering work ethic.
Ronald’s love for sports began early, and he was especially known for his athletic talents during his school years, excelling in baseball. His passion for the game stayed with him throughout his life. The only thing he cherished more than sports was his deep love for the Lord and for his family, who were the center of his world.
Ronald began working at the age of twelve and carried that strong work ethic throughout his life. He dedicated decades of service to General Motors, continuing to work even long after his first retirement. His commitment, reliability, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adeline Clarkson Edwards and DeWitt Sims; his special aunt and uncle and beloved parental figures Julius Sims and Virgie Clarkson Sims; and siblings Donald Sims,Robert Sims, Denise Edwards, Gerald Edwards, Terry Edwards, and Linda Edwards.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn Joyce Sims; his children Rhonda J. Sims, Robert D. Sims, and Ryan D. Sims; and his cherished grandsonsLeAndre Brown II and Michael Anthony Brown, as well as his great‑grandson LeAndre Liam Amstutz‑Brown. He is also survived by siblings Kenneth Edwards, Gloria Massey (Edward Sr.), Timothy Edwards (Rebecca), and Cynthia Edwards; his special cousin Kimberly Ann Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved deeply.
Ronald was loved by all who knew him. He was often described as an amazing man whose kindness, integrity, and steady presence touched countless lives. His absence is felt profoundly by everyone blessed to have known him.
