Roscoe Robinson Obituary

Roscoe E. Robinson, 98, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather on November 4, 2023, God saw fit to send his angels to claim his precious soul.

Roscoe E. Robinson was born on October 24, 1925, to Roscoe Robinson Sr. and Suzanne Marshall. Roscoe’s life is a remarkable testament to his dedication, commitment, and character. His service in the Navy during WWII demonstrates his patriotism and bravery, while his long career at Caterpillar reflects his strong work ethic and determination. Being a father figure to many and fostering a sense of community underscores his positive impact on those around him. The 71-year-long marriage to Theola and their commitment to family and community undoubtedly left a legacy of love and support for generations to come. Roscoe and his wife Theola served as foster parents.

Despite having an eighth-grade education, Roscoe's ability to succeed in both business and his long-term job is a testament to his determination, resourcefulness, and work ethic. It's a remarkable example of how one's dedication and drive can lead to significant accomplishments in life, regardless of formal educational qualifications. His story serves as an inspiration to others who may face similar challenges. Roscoe was particularly proud of his work as a union organizer and representative.

Roscoe E. Robinson was baptized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church, under the leadership of Bishop J.E. Moore.

Roscoe is preceded in death by his sons, David Strong and Roscoe Robinson Jr.; granddaughter, Chanel Robinson and grandson, Nicholas Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife, Theola Robinson, and his children, Joan Watkins of Joliet, IL, Diane Robinson, and Ernest (Hedi) Robinson of Hannibal, MO, Kent (Hilary) Robinson, and Angie Robinson, both of Joliet, IL. Thirty-eight grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Special cousins, Susan and Cathy Marshall of Georgia and Connie Marshall of Hannibal, MO.
