Rosella McGee was born on Christmas Day in 1939, in Paulding, MS. She was one of twelve children born to Columbus Sr. and Annie McGee. Rosella transitioned peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on October 26, 2023.
Rosella was formally educated in Paulding, MS at Spring Hill Elementary School and Leona School. She relocated to Joliet, IL in the 1950’s. She worked numerous jobs which included machine operator and waitress. Rosella was also employed by Catholic Charities Senior Services Foster Grand Parent Program and Trinity Services for over 15 years.
Rosella was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church for over 60 years. Throughout the years she was a member of the choir, an usher, and tape ministry. She loved to serve the Lord and rejoice in his name.
Rosella loved to participate in family gatherings, play her guitar, dancing and singing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Rosella is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Harris; parents, Annie and Columbus McGee, Sr.; five brothers, Columbus McGee, Jr., Ornie “O.C.” McGee, Curtis McGee, Robert “R.J.” McGee and Jessie McGee; three sisters, Loreane Boyd, Christine McGee, and Marjorie McGee; sons, Kenneth McGee and Gerald (Sonny) McGee; grandson, Bennie McGee; great grandson Daniel Johnson, Jr.
Rosella leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Regina (James) Pruitt, Tracie (William) Bryant and Melisa McGee; son, Darrell McGee; two brothers, Willie B. (Carsetta) McGee of Paulding, MS and William D. McGee of Louin, MS; one sister, Louella (William) Trotter of Laurel, MS; one sister-in-law, Lucille McGee; special cousins, Geraldine Hamilton, Lula Mae Jones, Laurel, MS and Lewis McDonald, Merriville, IN; special friends, Doris Porter and Rosie Lee McGee. Grandchildren: James McGee, Tyrone McGee, Eric Pruitt, Latasha McGee, Robbie Pruitt, Porsha Pruitt, Roman Pruitt, IL’Yasha McGee, Cameron McGee, Jalan McGee, Sanaa McGee, Kasombra (Brett)Tudela, Brooke McDaniel, Melisa McDaniel, Sydney McDaniel, Kenneth Weston, and Bryant Weston; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
