Roy Paige Obituary

Deacon Roy Gene Paige was born on August 26, 1950, in Dermott, Arkansas, to Willie Paige Sr. and Mariah McElwee. On February 26, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy defined by quiet strength, steadfast love, and unwavering faith.

On June 11, 1988, Roy was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Climmieteen (Smith) Paige. Their enduring union was built on devotion, trust, and deep commitment. Through every season—both joyful and challenging—they stood side by side, modeling a love that anchored and sustained their family.

Roy received his education in Dermott, Arkansas, graduating from Chicot County High School. During his high school years, he proudly represented his school on both the basketball and football teams. His athletic ability, discipline, and team spirit reflected the perseverance and character that would guide him throughout his life.

A hardworking and dedicated provider, Roy retired from Caterpillar after more than 30 years of faithful service. His strong work ethic and quiet consistency were hallmarks of his life.

Roy’s greatest joy was his walk with the Lord. On June 16, 1985, he was baptized in Jesus’ Name at Bethlehem Healing Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Lockport by Bishop Clord Jordan. He was later filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost and remained steadfast in his faith. He faithfully served as a Deacon at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church under the pastorate of Bishop Dr. J.E. Moore, honoring his calling with dedication until declining health prevented him from serving further. His life reflected sincere devotion, humility, and unwavering commitment to God and his church family.

Deacon Paige was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Paige Sr. and Mariah McElwee; and his beloved siblings: Florence (Odell) Clark, Helen (James) Fountain, Wivoline (Arthur) Franklin, and Robert Lee Paige (Avenell). Though they departed before him, their love and shared memories remained forever etched in his heart.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Climmieteen Paige; his daughters, Latreasha “Shun” Paige-Charleston of Bloomington, Illinois, and Tamara “Tammy” (Herman) Riddle of Wisconsin; his son, Robert Jerrell (Rachel) Journagin of San Diego, California; and his cherished stepsons, Pastor Leroy (Rhonda) Campbell of Yorkville, Illinois, and Bishop Melvin (Donneyale) Campbell of Bloomington, Illinois. He embraced and loved them dearly, standing proudly beside them in both life and ministry.

He was especially proud of his beloved grandchildren: LaTajma, LaNeysha, Le’Royia, Melvin II, Tecola, Donte, Brandon, Delailah, Robert Julez, Brooklyn, Gia, Ellea and Evan; and his adopted grandson and travel buddy, Kashmere, who he also loved to argue with. Each of them held a special place in his heart and are a living reflection of his legacy.

He also leaves to cherish his memory two great-grandchildren, Melvin III and Meledy, and one great-grand-godson, Ky’Lin.

He is further survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Deacon Roy Gene Paige’s life was a testimony of faith, family, service, and quiet resilience. Though he has laid down his earthly burdens, his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched, the church he served, and the love he so freely gave.
