Ruby J. Stepney

Ms. Ruby Jewel Stepney was born on October 12, 1932, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to the proud parents, Will and Maggie Carr. She dedicated many years of service working as a cook at Route 66 and several other restaurants. Ruby had a deep love for cooking for her family and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing, simple pleasures that brought her great joy.

Ruby was united in marriage to Floyd Stepney, and together they raised a loving family of eight children; three sons and five daughters.

Ruby departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Stepney; her parents, Will and Maggie Carr; six brothers; and three sisters.

She leaves to mourn her children, Jackie Dixon, Jerry Knight, Savannah and Hersey Jenkins, Rocky (Donna) Stepney, Al (Lisa) Stepney, Gwen Stepney, Priscilla Stepney, and Susan Stepney. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 80 greatgrandchildren, and 27 greatgreat- grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
