Sherry Ann (Brown) Askia was born March 18, 1962 in Joliet, Illinois to James Edward Brown and Priscilla Lampkin (Brown) Askia.
Sherry was a resident of Joliet for fifty-nine years and was a care giver for several years until her health begin to fail. She was educated in the Joliet Public School System.
Sherry faithfully attended her GED classes at Joliet Junior
College. She also faithfully attended Church and Sunday School;
she would answer questions, pray and was responsible for collecting the offering for Sunday School. She was a member of her sister's Bible Study group, a Greeter and was an active participant.
Sherry’s all-time favorite and relaxing hobby was knitting. She would knit for family and friends and had recently had such a demand that she began to sell her products.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. Brown and Priscilla Lampkin (Brown) Askia; three sisters, Francis Brown, Lucille (Hinton) Muwwakkil, Maxine (Ervins) Brown; three brothers, Eddie Lee Brown, Joseph Brown Sr. and Michael Joe (Tiffany) Brown.
She departed this life on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 after a long illness.
She leaves to cherish her memories; three brothers, Rev. Dr. Lester (Beverly) Brown, Ray Charles (Felicia) Brown and Tony Gavins; two sisters, Scherris Brown and Karen Hammond; her special friend and companion for over 25 years, James Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
