Tammie Inez Brooks

Tammie Inez Brooks was born to Violet Ann Brooks and Wilber Lopez Brooks on September 3, 1967 in Joliet, Illinois. Tammie went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2025. She accepted Christ at an early age.

Tammie has three children,  Sherree Brooks, Latoya Brooks and Eugene Jones Jr., five grandchildren, Natavia Duke, Mya Smith, John Duke, Jalyiah Lee, Jayla Lee, two great-grandchildren Jeremy Coats and Landon Helms.

Tammie married Eugene Jones and they remained life long partners. 

Tammie loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to dance and cook. She was always the life of the party. Tammie never met a stranger. Everyone she met, she touched their lives in a special way.

Tammie attended Joliet Public Schools and Joliet Junior College where she obtained an Associates  Degree in Applied Science. She spent most of her working years at Caterpillar. Before she passed, she worked at Family Dollar with a team she truly loved. 

Tammie was alway active in her children’s lives and very proud of her son, Eugene Jones, Jr. who is a Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marines.

Tammie loved the outdoors, such as going to the bike trail and going to the park with her grandchildren. She was very caring and loved helping anyone in need.

Tammie was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Alcester Brooks, her father, Wilbert Lopez Brooks and her niece, Brittany Monique Brooks. 

Tammie leaves to honor and cherish fond memories: her loving mother, Violet Ann Brooks; sisters, Sherry Barnes, Tina Brooks, and Valerie Brooks; three brothers, Wilbert (Sonny) Brooks, Terrance Brooks and Padre Brooks; a very special friend, Cynthia Bailey, a long life partner, Eugene Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews.
