Tanya Sandridge Obituary

Tanya Sandridge  was born November 12,1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Princella Hudson-Gilliam and the late William E. Walker and late (Stepfather) John H. Matthew Sr. Tanya attended Hefferan Elementary School, Harrison High School and St. Mel High School (which was later renamed Provident St. Mel School). She loved being the Hall Guard during her time there. She later attended and graduated from Everest College in Medical Billing and Coding. Tanya worked for H&R Block as a Tax Preparer for many years.

She also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and in Medical Billing and Coding until she decided to open her own Tax Services, Tanya Sandridge's Tax Services LLC.

Tanya was always so special with a gregarious spirit. She really loved her family, church, and friends and was never a stranger to anyone, always reaching out to help others whenever she could. She also loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren so deeply and would always do whatever she could for them. Tanya was introduced to Christ by her mother, Dr. Princella Hudson-Gilliam and accepted Him as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized by her grandfather, Pastor William Hudson at New Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Chicago.

Tanya was very active in the church. As the years rolled by, she held various positions at the church, including Director of the children’s choir, member of the youth choir, Pastor’s nurse, and the church secretary. She was also dynamic in reciting readings, one of which was “A Great Day.” Tanya later found a new church home, Word of Life (WOL), with Pastors Raymond and Jody Quintana. She served as an usher and Tanya loved her church. Tanya married Joe Nathan Sandridge on March 12, 1995. In March of 2020, Joe and Tanya Sandridge renewed their vows in celebration of 25 years of marital bliss, they truly loved each other. They were inseparable. They traveled all over, jokingly saying that they were still on their "Honeymoon." Tanya departed this life when God dispatched an angel to pluck a beautiful rose from His garden on Monday, October 11, 2021. Tanya leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted (HUSBAND) Joe N.
