Taquilla Stephens was born on October 26,1975 in Joliet, IL to Lillie Stephen and Dwight Shannon, who raised her with love, strength, and unwavering support. From a young age, she displayed a vibrant spirit, a kindhearted, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around her.
Whether it was her infectious laughter, her caring nature, or her ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, she was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A hardworking and ambitious individual, she pursued a career in nursing, where her dedication and passion left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. She was deeply committed to her work, always striving to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.
Beyond her professional achievements, Taquilla was a woman of many passions. She found joy in new resturants, road trips, fishing, outdoor fun, shooting pool or social gathering with family and friends. Always eager to bring along others for enjoyment. Weather going to amusement parks, fun day at the beach. Exploring new destinations, she embraced every experience with love and
laughs.
More than anything, [Taquilla] was devoted to her family and friends. She cherished her relationships and was a of strength, laughter, unwavering support to those who needed her. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she took great pride in being a loyal daughter, sister, partner, and She is survived by parent, Lillie Stephen; siblings; Gregory Stephens, Lawana Sterrett, Joanna Sterrett, Latasha Stephens, Sharmiki Sterrett, Deco Shannon, Rashanda Booker, Miranda Bell, Shannon Carter and Delvin Shannon], [Fiance; Robert Barefeild], [Children, Myracle Sterrett-Woods, and Kevin Rouser Jr.], [step- children; Trevion Barefield, Marquise Barefield, Cynara Cherry, and Tiffany Steward], [a special niece, Audrey Stephens; a special
grandson, Ernest Gregory], and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces,nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by [her grandparents, Lillie Mabry Stephen "Dolly", Willie Stevens, Wes Shannon, Janice Shannon; Father, Dwight Shannon; son, Robert Barefield Jr.; Aunt, Joanne "Jody" Mabry; nephew, Hershel Brown Jr.; and cousins, Corey Kelly, Coreon Kelly, and Donald Rouser Jr., whom we take comfort in knowing welcomed her with open arms.
Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming,
we find solace in the memories she left behind.
Her spirit will live on in every shared story,
every echo of laughter, and every act of love
inspired by her example. We will forever carry
