Theresa Williams

Theresa Belle (McFarland) Williams was born January 17, 1924 in Pine River, Minnesota to William Hardin McFarland and Cornelia (Barnett) McFarland.  Theresa departed this life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Parc of Joliet Nursing Home.

Theresa attended school in Braidwood, Illinois.  She was a member and served in several capacities for the NAACP.

Theresa met and married Jesse Williams and to this union, two children were born.  Theresa loved her children and grandchildren who would spend summer vacations with her and enjoy several activities (summer camp, sport and traveling).

She was a born again Christian, receiving Christ as her Savior in 1971.  She was an avid reader and studied the Bible faithfully.  Education was a passion and she attended Joliet Junior College to further her education.

Theresa had a strong work ethic, which she learned from her mother and father and passed along to her children.  During her life, Theresa was employed by Joliet Arsenal, Venture, Zayre, Wieboldt’s Joliet Housing Authority, Bernard’s Car Wish and Rainbow Clothing Store.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, William Hardin McFarland and Cornelia (Barnett) McFarland; brothers, Pierson, John, and Hardin McFarland; sisters, Corrine and Martha McFarland, Georgia Cochran and Cornelia Stalling; son, David Williams and granddaughter, Jesika Thompson.

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Deidre Lynne of Hawaii; son, Jesse T. (Mary) Williams of Joliet IL; sister, Mary Ann (Wiley) Hayes and grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. 

Theresa loved interacting with different people.  She will be missed very much!
