Vanita Person

Vanita Person was born on October 14, 1963 in Joliet, Illinois to the union of the late Arthur and Elmer Person.  She was the fourth eldest of eight children from this union. She was blessed with two sons, Darrius Farr and Dearick Farr.

As a young child, she attended Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois and was baptized by the late Pastor Alva M. Varnado. She attended Joliet Public Schools and enjoyed her years as a cheerleader at Washington Junior High School.  Vanita graduated from Joliet Central High School. She attended Robert Morris College in the early 80s. She worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant for many years. Vanita loved to shop, travel and defiantly loved her family. She kept a smile on her face and captured the hearts of everyone she came in contact with.

Vanita passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 in Joliet, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elmer C. Person; father, Arthur J. Person; son, Dearick Farr and two brothers, Tony Person and Danny Person (Lula).

She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memories; one son, Darrius Farr of New Jersey; her two brothers, Larry Person (Annie) of Memphis, TN and Basseroni Person of Minneapolis, MN; three sisters, Arthena Person of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kassandra Gavin of Joliet, IL and Geraldine Person of Dallas, TX; stepsisters, Brenda Pruitt-Deal, Katie Pruitt- Jackson (Tyrone); stepmother, Ethel Person of Joliet, IL; loving companion, Dearick Farr; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
