William Prince McLemore Jr. was born on June 6, 1954 to Dr. William Prince McLemore Sr. and Buna McLemore (nee Anderson) in Cleveland, Ohio. He transitioned from life to eternity peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2025.
William was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and dedicated public servant. He lived a life marked by honor, humility, and unwavering commitment to his community. William answered the call to serve his country at a young age, enlisting in the Marine Corps where he served with distinction as a Lance Corporal. He obtained several decorations, citations, badges and medals such as: Rifle Marksman Badge, Meritorious Masts, Meritorious Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal. His time in the military shaped his values—discipline, loyalty, and resilience—that he carried with him throughout his life.
After being honorably from the Marines, William continued his service in a different capacity—as a beloved bus driver for District 204 Transportation and First Student Transportation Company for over 10 years. Rain or shine, every day he was early to arrive and late to leave, becoming a familiar and comforting presence to generations of students and their parents.
Beyond his professional life, William was a devoted friend, known for his generous spirit, and love of reading and gift of help. He was a man of quiet strength who led by example and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His co-workers could count on him every Thursday to return from the local pantry with a variety of food goods to give away.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Buna McLemore and William Prince McLemore Sr.; step-mother, Elsie McLemore, and paternal grandparents, Garfield and Rosa Mae McLemore.
William leaves to cherish his memory his only brother, Charles "Charvey" McLemore (Elizabeth) of Memphis, TN; devoted friends, Mr. Lloyd Craig, Pastor George Kimbrough and Pastor Larry Tyler. He also leaves behind a host of family, co-workers and friends near and far to cherish his remarkable memory.
