William McNair, who was affectionately known as Fontaine, was born July 25, 1972 in Joliet, Illinois to Bernice Davenport and William Charles McNair. William passed suddenly on Sunday, November 17, 2024 surrounded by family.
William was the only brother to seven sisters. In his early years, he attended Northrop High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he was on the football team and later graduated in 1990. He was known for his love for sports, especially football. Everyone that knew him, knew he loved the Chicago Bears. Only thing he loved more than football, was his family. William was always big on family and unity, keeping everyone together was always a top priority of his. William was always the life of the party and always had a story to tell. He kept everyone laughing.
Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ola Mae McNair and William T. McNair, maternal grandparents, Nebraska Davenport and Albert Davenport; aunt, Tina Jones and cousins, Antoinette “Peaches” Anderson, Tanya Anderson, Michael “People” Travis and a host of other relatives.
William is survived by his three children, DaQuion “Quanny” Shears, William “Lharon” McNair and Khaliyah McNair, (Fort Wayne, IN); mother, Bernice Davenport; father, William (Mary) McNair, seven sisters, Niecy, Michelle, Ana (Atlanta, GA), Felicia, Barbara, Tawana and Mary, 11 grandchildren: Lamar, Da’Niyah, A’nijah, Jada, Jordan, Da’sember, DaQuion Jr, Callen, Alayja, Jace and Chayce; 16 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, loving relatives, Mayola Hicks and family (Fort Wayne, IN); special aunt, Billie Ruth; special uncles, Albert and Andy; special nieces, Lakechia M “Keke” and Breanna B; special cousin, Theus; special friends, Kim D, Archie, Terrence and a host of relatives and friends.
