Yvonne Price Obituary

Yvonne Price Stowers embarked on her life's journey on May 3, 1951, in Chicago, IL. She was born to Leroy and Verneda Stowers and was a remarkable child, quick to embrace life with an open heart. Yvonne attended various public schools in the Chicago area and graduated from Roosevelt High School.

Yvonne wore many hats in the business field starting with her first job at Sears. She spend a majority of her employment with Michael Reese Hospital. While in Grand Rapids, she worked as a Receptionist at First American Title, and Country Hearth Suites. When she returned to Chicago, she was employed at Life Fitness.

Though she did not have children of her own, her love for children was evident, and she always found time to do special things for the little ones in her life.

Yvonne had a unique gift for connecting with people, whether they were family or acquaintances. As a natural nurturer, she took great pride in cleanliness and always valued being neat and stylish. Her love for fashion was apparent, and she was often recognized for her distinctive style.

In the early 1990s, Yvonne met Michael through his sister while he was living in Grand Rapids, MI. From their very first encounter, they formed an immediate bond. Michael began making weekend trips from Grand Rapids to Chicago, and during their first meeting, Yvonne confidently told him, “If you like what you see, then kiss me.” This moment sparked the beginning of their 34-year journey together. About a year later, Yvonne moved to Grand Rapids.

One memorable event they shared was attending an Isley Brothers concert in Muskegon, MI. As they left the concert, a song by Glen Jones titled “I’ve Been Searching” played on the radio. The lyrics resonated with them, and it became their special song: “I’ve been searching for so long, nobody like you, nowhere to be found, makes me wonder what I’d do, if I never had someone like you.” Whenever Yvonne felt down, Michael would sing this song to uplift her spirits. He continued this beautiful tradition, singing it daily until her last moments, a testament to his enduring love for her. FROM MICHAEL: I thank God for such a beautiful life we shared together. I will always love you Yvonne.

Yvonne went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. She is preceded in death by Vernita Stowers “Dear” (mother), Leroy Stowers (father), Leonard Stowers (brother), Beatrice Miller (Aunt), Ester Madden (Aunt), May Roper (Aunt) James Stowers (Uncle) and Clarence Stowers (Uncle).
