Zelma Pearline Brooks was born March 22, 1931, in Kosciusko, Mississippi to Ella and Henry Franklin Jr. On August 22, 2024, Zelma Brooks received her wings. Zelma was the matriarch of the family.
She accepted Christ at a young age. Zelma and James Brooks got married in 1948 and they later moved to Chicago, Illinois. To this union they had seven children: Mary, Emma, Eugene, Paul, Patricia, Elmaree, and Zelma.
She later moved to Joliet, Illinois in November 1970. Her job titles were Home Health Care, Drum Corps, Sears, and she loved to cook and grow her gardens.
Zelma was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Ella and Henry Franklin Jr; her sisters, Alberta, Elnora, Velma, Elma and her brothers, Charlie, Frank, Willie Morris, Lee Henry, John; three daughters, Zelma, Emma, Mary; one son, Paul; two granddaughters, Tamyka and Ardrella.
She leaves behind her loved ones, one son, Eugene: two daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Brown and Elmaree, seven granddaughters, Twanda (Joseph) Hinton, Zelma (Melvin) Bradley, AnQuanette, Tanesha, Natashia, Dishika, Diamond; four grandsons, James, Hubert, Tommie, Devon and 29 great grandkids, 33 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
